Welcome to Red Dragon Holidays

Nestled in the Nantgwynant Valley at the base of Snowdon, just a stone’s throw from Beddgelert,  Red Dragon Holidays offers different types of accommodation from traditional Stone Cottages to Camping Pods.

Our aim is to ensure that you have a fantastic holiday in spectacular Snowdonia whilst having a central base to stay in during your time here.

Our properties, set in privately owned mountainside woodland, are only 300 metres from the start of The Watkin Path to the top of Snowdon in between Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant.

An ideal base from which to explore Snowdonia with its spectacular scenery and fascinating mix of mountains, lakes, woodland and streams. Whether it’s a walk & climb up Snowdon, a trip on the Welsh Highland Steam Railway, the adrenaline rush of Zip World or whooshing through Beddgelert forest on a mountain bike, we have accommodation to meet your needs and budget. We pride ourselves on being dog friendly meaning your 4 legged friends can join in the fun too!

Beddgelert, famous for its legend of Prince Llewellyn and his dog Gelert, has numerous pubs and eateries, a fab ice cream shop, pizza café, gift shops and village shop/post office.  A walk along the river Glaslyn, to Gelerts Grave followed by an ice cream or a coffee and cake are a must during your stay.

For those wanting adventure, Snowdonia is THE place to come; not including the obvious climb up Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales, on our doorstep you can also take part in Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Gorge Walking, Canyoning, Pot Holing to name but a few. Zip World with its zip lines, trampolines, fforest coaster, caverns and tree top adventure are within easy reach.

If it’s a beach you want, we have them too, the beautiful sandy beach, Black Rock Sands is dog friendly all year round, Harlech beach with its sand dunes or Morfa Nefyn with Ty Coch Inn rated on TripAdvisor as the 3rd best beach bar in the WORLD.

The more sedate castles and steam railways are in abundance in North Wales, The Welsh Highland runs from Beddgelert to Caernarfon Castle, Snowdon Mountain Railway to the summit or the Festiniog Railway takes you to Blaeneau Ffestiniog, slate capital of the world.

Covid 19 Pandemic

‘In line with the Welsh government review of C19 restrictions on 1 April our self contained accommodation is open to guests from England and Wales from 12 April. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be welcome as soon as restrictions in those countries allow. This means for now our Camping Pods, with shared facilities will remain closed but Cottages, Maple Lodge Log Cabin, The Dragons Lair and The Dragons Den are open as they are self-contained with their own bathroom, kitchen and toilet.

The Welsh Government have indicated that the rest of tourist accommodation, will be reviewed after the 17 May with a hope to open in time for the end of May bank holiday. If you have a reservation for Camping Pods with us before 21 May we will have been in touch to arrange to either change the date or arrange a refund.

If you are a group of 1 household and want to book a minimum of 4 pods we may be able to open the pods exclusively for you, then making the accommodation self contained – to discuss this in more detail and for a price please contact Claire on 01766 890351.  Please see the attached for full details of the Welsh Government 1 April review and roadmap.

Our Promise to you – All bedding, mattress and pillow protectors will be washed every changeover, all bedding will be rested between guests and all equipment in rooms will  be cleaned and disinfected.  We have removed all soft furnishings (cushions, throws, bed runners), board games, books, DVDs, playing cards etc from properties for your safety.’
